Interesting tripod

Gorilla_pod_1A friend of mine sent me a link from thinkgeek.com, and here's what was in it. It is called the Gorillapod, a very interesting tripod in my opinion. This weird looking tripod bends and twists, adapting to any surface. Nice accessory if you want to get perfect shots and the surfaces aren't exactly flat!

From a Friend of mine

Biotec_building4This picture was taken by a friend of mine from South America, at her workplace. She's a photography amateur, who goes around with her camera in her pocket, and when she sees something that she likes, she shoots! I really like the  perspective on this picture, focusing on the reflection instead of the structure.

Sunset & Whale

WhaleYes, I do love sunset pictures, and I definitely have a thing for nature and animals photography, so a friend of mine sent me this amazing picture. It is too bad that I don't have the information of the photographer, or the picture's name, so if anybody knows, please, let me know! If there is one thing that I feel looking at this picture is a great sense of inner peace and freedom... doesn't it make you want to be a whale for day, to experiment the sensation of swimming all across the ocean, jump into the sunset, feel free to go anywhere you want?

Black and White

From_dark_to_light_3_by_dragonettyI'm pretty sure I mentioned how artistic I consider Black and White photography, and here I found one that I like a LOT. I found it on Deviantart, and the author goes by the nick Dragonetty. An impressive work with the lights and shadows, and a great example on how much B&W adds to photography as a technique.

The Spice of Life

CatHumor is the spice of life, and this picture made me laugh :) This is the most courageous cat ever, or maybe the most stupid! My bet is on the eagle!

Digital Nature Photography Closeup

Digitalnaturebook Continuing with the reading recommendations, I leave you with this book by Jon Cox, great for novice and intermediate photographers, a very easy to read book, with excellent information and written in "common language" making this book interesting, instead of being a show-off of how much the author knows about photography.

As Shocking as the Disease...

81This is probably the most shocking picture I found so far, and some of you probably feel your sensibility hurt... that means the creatives behind this AIDS campaigns succeeded. "Without a condom you're sleeping with aids. Protect yourself" ; is the flavor text on this work by Dimitri Daniloff for the AIDS campaign in Paris. I think it mostly speaks for itself and conveys the message in a great way... in my opinion one of the best AIDS Campaign pictures i ever seen.
Sorry for those who might get offended by this picture, which is as shocking as the AIDS disease.

Another from Al Mierau

WintershadowsI still can't describe exactly what it is that I like so much about Al Mierau's work, but isn't that what art is all about? Being able to feel things about something and don't need to rationalize it! I think this picture is amazing, the lighting, the angle, the small details, the warmth and yet cold feeling... This guy is so great.

Rexl Discovery

Rexl I found this site of an amateur photographer, just like me! I started to take a look at his work, and he has some really interesting things there, like this picture that I chose to post here. It doesn't have a name, but I just loved the way the sunlight reflects on the clouds, creating that amazing color palette. His name, well, actually his nickname is Rexl, and I think he's got the touch for this!

A great Book

BookIf you want to improve your outdoor photography with a digital camera, or if you are planning on traveling and want to make the best out of it with great shots, I recommend you read "Digital Photography Outdoors: A Field Guide for Travel and Adventure Photographers" by James Martin. It comes with really great and solid information, and will help you a lot in your photography techniques.
