Robert Schaefer, Jr.

Rs_train_prague_to_berlinb In reaction, some photographic artists shun technology of any kind, instead resurrecting tin type, daguerreotype, and other 19th-century "alternative processes" that render one-of-a-kind images, impossible to predictably reproduce. Robert Schaefer, Jr. takes the best of both worlds. For him computers and software help photographers expose their work to ever wider audiences, reduce exposure to toxic darkroom chemicals, and make it easier to stay connected with mentors and peers. But they are never the starting point for Schaefer's art. That distinction belongs to his vision and to the images themselves, which he composes in a viewfinder and brings to life in a darkroom.

Photo of the Day

02183_117 This is the photo of the day at the National Geographic web site, the picture is by David Alan Harvey, and was taken at the Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, in 1979. The simplicity of this picture is really amazing, and according to the web site, this picture was meant for an article, but never published.

Rexl Discovery

Rexl I found this site of an amateur photographer, just like me! I started to take a look at his work, and he has some really interesting things there, like this picture that I chose to post here. It doesn't have a name, but I just loved the way the sunlight reflects on the clouds, creating that amazing color palette. His name, well, actually his nickname is Rexl, and I think he's got the touch for this!

Dark and Light

DarkandlightI´m in a bit of blue mood today, and I found this very good picture of Derek Langley, working with darks and lights, in a sepia tint. Maybe because of my mood, maybe because for what it transmits, this picture makes me think about that we can always find an open door with something more to explore. And if it wasn´t for darkness, light wouldn´t exists, so every thing complements another thing, and in order to enjoy and value each, we need to experience both.

Animal Photography - awww

Gal_929 One of the best animal photographers, in my opinion, in Rachel Hale. Her pictures about puppies and kittens are just the cutest thing ever, and the theme of each photograph matches to perfection the animal on it. I can´t even imagine the hard work of ending up with this great photographs, getting all those cute puppies to stay, to look, I mean, look at this one! Look at that pinky nose and tender eyes! I wonder how they managed to prevent this gorgeous little fellow from chewing all the roses around him :) Or, maybe AFTER the shot, he actually chewed all the roses!
You can see all her great work at Rachel Hale website, including sending e-cards, buy photography books, posters, and lots of products always related to the most lovable animals in the world!
